French Bread Recipe

My favourite part of eating out is when they bring the bread ahead of the meal for you to nibble on. I always eat way too much and end up having to bring my dinner home. But that hot out of the oven fresh French bread is to die for! It is so good I just can not resist it. When I stumbled on this yummy recipe to make French Bread at home in the oven I just had to give it a try. It is so delicious you do not even need to save if for dinner :)

Remove dough from the bowl and cut in half. On floured surface roll dough out like in the photo above. Roll dough tightly like a jelly roll tucking in edges. Place dough on a lightly oiled pan and place corn meal over the oil. Let rise for about 1 hour or until doubles in size. Preheat oven to 450 degrees
With a sharp paring knife make 3-4 shallow, diagonal slashes. Coat the top of the breads with egg-white. place 3-4 ice cubes in the bottom of your oven the steam makes a nice crusty bread. If you don’t have ice cubes put 1/2 cup of water in a pan on the lowest rack of your oven.
